Granite,
I am a yuppie by this definition and I like to sleep too. However being that I went to college I learned a few things about living in close quarters with loud drunken buffoons. That stuff is only cute when you're an 18 year old freshman, by the time you're a college senior you just wanna sleep. Its funny however how similar living here is a lot like my college years. To wit:
-Eye covers and ear plugs go a long way toward sleeping through many many things you mention. I slept through some heinous stuff in college. I occasionally woke up to a roommate doing something strange at 2AM but I think the earplugs kept a lot of things out. Plus they are cheap.
-Any college that had this many bars this close tends to get pretty wild pretty fast. That said most people who drink in the neighborhood have been pretty quiet. See above tip.
-The seniors always look down on the frosh. I am a frosh to the 'P but I may well end up a senior as I really like it here. In the end we are all in school together, so we'll probably get along eventually. The new students in Silo Point however will be under suspicion next year.
-Usually the real pain in the arse kids go to a different school, in this case the other school is Federal Hill and possibly Canton so LP lucked out thus far. LP is really quiet and friendly compared to those hoods.
-Much like in college, living here means the girls rooms (in this case their rowhouse) is just a quick walk so you might see us walking the streets a lot and not paying attention to those around in our haste to get to that house. However the more "mature" residents here are quite a pleasure so give us some time and we'll all catch on. I noticed that early on though.
-Like college I am a Locust Point legacy (uncle grew up here, cousin lived here). My mom went to my college in the 1970's. She may move here eventually so be sure to call her a yuppie. She won't have a clue what you're talking about.
-My family likes coming here a lot like they liked to visit me at college. Both the LP and college were much more fun than the suburbs I guess.
Anyway, as you can see Locust Point is a lot like college. Expect to see more college grads here in the future. Beats having ex-cons for neighbors though right?
