Off Leash area in Latrobe Park

As a dog owner I am very interested in getting an off leash area started in the park. Anyone interested please contact me at Charlie756@verizon.net. Tell me why you want one and where one would best be located. In the for what it's worth column, I'm chairman of the Parks and Beautification committee and am seeking input from the community prior to formally persuing this.  Thanks and hope to get your input.

P.S. Look for the doggie stations to be installed in the coming weeks.

Anyone interested in helping with the install? Let me know.

Re: Off Leash area in Latrobe Park
I sent you an email. I think Latrobe is a fine location, and I'd be willing to help with the work. We can talk at the meeting March 14 if you want.

Re: Off Leash area in Latrobe Park

I feel it would be a great idea to have an area designated for dogs.  The area between the Rec Center/tennis courts and Andrea Street is one that I think would be good.  It would be far enough away from the areas where children and people walk/play.

Another suggestion would be to have two areas designated:  one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs.  As someone that has boarded pets, I found that smaller breeds are given separate play areas from the larger breeds for safety sake.  Having only to install a fence to section a small area off for dogs under 20 pounds, the cost should not be that much of a difference.
