Petition - Tuesday, June 17, 2008
An amendment to the Key Highway Urban Renewal Plan is before the Baltimore City Council that would allow the developers of Harborview Condominiums to build four additional high rise towers along the waterfront on Key Highway.  If you are opposed to this development please add your name to an online petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/pl080117/petition.html

President’s Message
June

In my first “President’s Message”, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our out-going President, Paul Silberman for the truly outstanding job he did over the past two years. The Locust Point Civic Association and the Locust Point community have come a long way in that time and we did so smoothly under Paul’s adept leadership. Thanks also to Yvonne Keller and Barbara Wilson for their wonderful work on the Board of Directors. All three have promised to stay active in the community in different ways, so we should see them often. When you do, please take a moment to thank them for their hard work.

I would also like the welcome our three new Board members, Matt Craig, Jack Frederick and Charles Webster. All three bring a lot of good ideas and energy and we are excited to have them on the Board. Please take a moment to introduce yourselves to them when you get a chance.

Now on to business – at the upcoming June general meeting, we will get a presentation from Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse regarding their new plans for the Tide Point development. While the new plan has been scaled down considerably from the plan that we saw in March, the project will still have impacts – both good and not so good – on the neighborhood. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to ask questions and provide further input on the plan.

Please also plan on participating in the Civic Association’s Yard Sale, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 21. Please contact Sarah Clarkson at sarahclarkson3@verizon.net if you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing you in June!

–Tony Vittoria, President
